Official news has come out of Google’s Webmaster Central Blog that may be shocking to some, but to others it is no surprise and a direct reflection of where the web is going. The news on how Goolge will crawl websites is to better serve the user and users should get the most relevant and timely results, no matter if the information lives on mobile-friendly web pages or apps.

So starting April 21st, 2015 Google will be expanding their use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will effect mobile-users and most importantly, websites and companies that are not offering a responsive website experience. If your website is not mobile-friendly expect for your search rankings to start drastically dropping regardless of ad spend as the the mobile-friendliness signal will also expand to their AdWords and AdSense platforms.

To see if your website is mobile-friendly, Google has created a tool for you to easily test your website that can be found here.

If your website does not pass the test refer to Google’s Mobile Device Guide and reach out to Mitosis to get your website ready for the change…the clock's ticking.
